Well they were ghosts. Welcome to 100% Modern Ghosts Vol I, a humorous horror journaling zine that brings you back to those childhood days of playing scary games at slumber parties. Our goal at the Bureau of Occult Observation (BoOO) is to assist readers in mythologizing the mundane by identifying the ghosts that hide in day-to-day life, and engaging with them in modern ways.

• THE BODYGUARD (solo play): Trouble sleeping? Plagued by common bedroom ghosts? Fear not. Our documentation of THE BODYGUARD will help you to negotiate a ghost-for-hire contract. Offer up your childhood fears. Find a fearsome new bedfellow. Rest easy.

• THE PARTY GHOST (for 5+ players): A theoretical summoning, THE PARTY GHOST is invited into reality by hosting a party, and by engaging in dramatic villain speeches and declarations of revenge. Form alliances or break them. Commit an act of murder, or become the victim. Plead your innocence. Evade your guilt. Will the murder victim succeed in exposing their murderers? 

• THE SHADOW GHOST (for solo play, or 2+ players): Explore the aesthetics of gothic horror with only a candle, a lighter and shadow puppets. Wander your home, and meet those who live at the intersection of darkness and light. Perform a parlor trick, invite THE SHADOW GHOST into your candle, and learn to speak and interpret their language.
